Friends of Garden Island Creek Community Consultation on Beach Access and Beach Erosion Issues Sat 28th Jan, 10 am at the beach end of Lowes Rd.
There have been ongoing concerns about the erosion at Garden Island Sands and the lack of beach access since the boat ramp was removed.
In 2022, FOGIC was awarded a federal grant (Preparing Australian Communities – Local Stream) to engage consultants to help the community understand the nature of the erosion problem and to provide all information required for future engineering and permits to reinstate beach access and potentially design erosion controls.
Our consultants have finished their reports and it’s time to come and hear from them and discuss options and directions for beach access and erosion mitigation.
Please join us. FREE lunch is provided to encourage community members to stick around and continue discussions. BYO chair if required. (Limited parking in turning circle)
A survey will be distributed to all Garden Island Creek mailboxes after the consultation. This will also be available on the day and made available online. It will help us gather the thoughts of the community so we can formulate a plan to move forward.
